************Barrington Village Hall Committee Update************

Following the Barrington Village Hall AGM held in April, we would like to share a few updates from the Committee.

Firstly, we extend our sincere thanks to several Trustees who have stepped down from their roles this year:

  • Colin Stephens, Vice Chair, who continues to be actively involved in organising this year's Village Fete.
  • Phil Roberts, Property Manager.
  • Amanda Gould, who has kindly agreed to remain involved as a co-opted member of the Committee and continues in her important role as our Booking Secretary.

We are delighted to welcome three new Committee members. Nick Hemmings, Mark Hoare, and Tom McKnight all put themselves forward for election at the AGM and were successfully voted onto the Committee.

At the Committee meeting in May, Paul Tilbury stepped down as Chair. We would like to thank Paul for his dedication, commitment, and hard work during his time in the role.

We are pleased to announce that Nick Hemmings put himself forward for election as Chair and was duly elected.

We are also pleased to announce that Mark Hoare put himself forward for election as Vice Chair and was duly elected.

The Committee would like to thank everyone who gives their time to support Barrington Village Hall. We look forward to another busy and successful year serving our community and celebrating the Hall's 20th anniversary in 2026.

Barrington Village Hall is the perfect venue for weddings, receptions, conferences, social functions and celebrations.  The Hall has it’s own entertainment, bar and fully equipped catering facilities. Theatre-style seating in the main hall can accommodate up to 200 and has an adjoining Committee Room.  Set in an attractive and historic village, Barrington Village Hall benefits from magnificent views with the beautiful Somerset Levels as a backdrop.  An adjacent playing field and children’s play area is open to the public at all times and is a wonderful asset.

The village's historic 13th century St Mary’s Church is short distance away, together with a very popular pub, the ‘Barrington Boar’, which also has bed and breakfast accommodation. Close by is the National Trust’s Tudor mansion, Barrington Court.

Barrington Village Hall was built using local and national grants, together with village fund raising and matched funding. It was opened on 2nd December 2006 by members of the Barrington Village Hall Committee. The new building is situated close to the site of the old hall at the west end of the village. Designed to be eco and user-friendly the Hall has full disabled access and reflects the areas agricultural heritage by using the shape of a classic Dutch Barn.
